For ages 4 or 5

If you are shopping for a go kart for a 4 year old or 5 year old, the Mini series is what you want. Compare the models to see what fits your needs and budget.

The Mini size karts are designed for ages 4 and up. Of course, that's assuming an average size 4 year old, so there's some wiggle room there. The key features that make this size kart fit a 4 year include the short reach distance from seat to pedals, a smaller seat with shorter safety harness, a smaller steering wheel, and an overall smaller frame.

Mini karts are built a wide front wheelbase to make it easy to steer. The rear axle has been lengthened to give more stability. The roll cage is strong enough to handle a roll over and protect the riders.

Mini karts also come with two options to govern the speed. The first time your preschooler rides a gas powered go kart is not the time for full speed. Behind the gas pedal, there is a governor bolt with a rubber stopper. An adult can easily adjust the length of the governor bolt, which stops the child from pressing the gas pedal any further.

The second method to govern the engine is on the top of the engine itself. The 7.0 hp engine on the mini karts is the same as the engine you might see on a pressure washer or lawn mower. An adult can adjust a governor screw on the throttle lever to limit the speed.

Many parents are concerned that their child might outgrow the mini kart too quickly. An average size child will fit into the Mini until they're around 12 years old. In our experience, they're ready and asking for more speed around 9-10 years old.
