TrailMaster Go Kart Parts Checklist: Make Sure Nothing Is Missing
Before You Build Your Go Kart, Inventory Every Part
There's nothing more frustrating than getting halfway through assembling your new TrailMaster go kart only to discover a missing bolt or bracket. Before you pick up a wrench, take a few minutes to inventory every component included with your shipment.
What Should Be Included?
Your shipment should include major components such as:
- Front wheels
- Rear wheels
- Roll cage bars
- Side bars
- H-bar
- Cross bar
- Rear cargo rack
- Rear shock
- Front fenders
- Rear fenders
- Steering wheel
- Mirrors
- Battery
- Hardware package
- Keys
- Owner's manual
- Certificate of origin
(Insert photo of all parts laid out from page 8.)
Don't Throw Away the Packaging Yet
Small hardware is often packed separately or tucked into protective packaging. Keep all boxes and wrapping materials until assembly is complete.
Missing Something?
Stop assembly immediately and contact GoKartMasters before continuing. It's much easier to replace a missing part before the kart is partially assembled.
Article 3: How to Install a TrailMaster Roll Cage Correctly
The roll cage is one of the most important safety components on your go kart. Installing it correctly ensures proper fitment and helps protect occupants while riding.
Step 1: Install the Rear Cargo Rack
The cargo rack serves as the starting point for the upper roll cage.
Use the correct hardware, but leave all bolts loose.
Step 2: Install the Main Roll Cage Bars
Slide each roll cage bar into place without tightening the bolts.
Important Tip
The cupped washers must sit flush against the rounded tubing. Improper washer placement can make the roll cage difficult to tighten evenly.
Don't Tighten Yet!
This is the number one mistake new owners make.
If you tighten the roll cage before every bar is installed, the remaining pieces may not line up correctly.
Once the entire cage is assembled, go back and tighten every bolt.
Article 4: How to Install Go Kart Tires the Right Way
Many new owners don't realize that TrailMaster tires are directional.
Installing them backward causes faster tire wear and reduces traction.
How to Tell Which Direction the Tire Goes
Look at the V-shaped tread.
With the valve stem facing outward, the point of the "V" should face forward.
Rear Wheel Installation
Install:
- Flat washer
- Castle nut
- Cotter pin
- Hub cap
Front Wheel Installation
The front wheels install differently than the rear wheels, so make sure you're installing each on the correct spindle.
Inflate to the Correct Pressure
TrailMaster recommends 8–10 PSI using a low-pressure tire gauge. Never exceed 10 PSI.
Article 5: How to Install and Care for Your TrailMaster Battery
The battery is one of the most commonly neglected parts of a go kart.
Fortunately, it's also one of the easiest to maintain.
Installing the Battery
Place:
- Battery cushion
- Battery
- Battery strap
The strap is intentionally tight.
You may need locking pliers or a screwdriver for leverage.
Should You Install the Plastic Battery Cover?
The assembly guide notes that the gray plastic battery cover is optional, and GoKartMasters often leaves it off because it makes servicing the battery easier.
Keeping the Battery Healthy
Always keep the battery connected to a battery maintainer whenever the kart isn't being used for an extended period.
A fully discharged battery can be permanently damaged.
Article 6: How to Inflate Go Kart Tires Correctly
Believe it or not, tire pressure has a huge effect on how your go kart rides.
Too much pressure creates a harsh ride and reduces traction.
Too little pressure can make steering sluggish.
Recommended Pressure
For most TrailMaster models:
8–10 PSI
Always use a low-pressure tire gauge.
Many automotive gauges aren't accurate enough at these lower pressures.
Check Tire Pressure Before Every Ride
Tire pressure naturally changes with temperature.
A quick pressure check only takes a minute and can greatly improve ride quality and tire life.
