How to Assembly a Trailmaster Mid Size Kart

Whether this is your family's first go-kart or you're adding another machine to your collection, we're excited you've chosen GoKartMasters.
For over 15 years we've helped thousands of families purchase, assemble, maintain, and enjoy their TrailMaster go-karts. This guide brings together everything you need to know before your first ride and points you to additional resources whenever you're ready to learn more.
Before Your Kart Arrives
After placing your order, here's what to expect:
- Your go-kart ships by freight carrier.
- Delivery is typically 7–10 days from the time your order is placed (delivery times vary by location and season).
- The freight company will contact you to schedule delivery.
- An adult must be present to inspect and sign for the shipment.
- You'll receive an email containing your tracking information, assembly guide, and additional resources before delivery.
Missing or Damaged Parts?
If anything is missing or damaged during shipping, contact us as soon as possible so we can begin the warranty process.
Before You Start Assembly
Before installing anything, take a few minutes to:
- Remove all packaging materials and the shipping frame.
- Lay out every part and compare it to the parts checklist.
- Separate your hardware into small containers to make assembly easier.
- Verify that nothing is missing before beginning.

Helpful Assembly Tips
Our technicians have assembled thousands of these karts. Here are a few things we've learned that make the job easier.
Don't tighten the roll cage immediately
Install all of the roll cage pieces loosely first.
Once every section is installed and aligned correctly, go back and tighten all hardware.
Align the cupped washers correctly
The rounded side of each cupped washer should match the rounded surface of the roll cage tubing.
Some bars fit tightly
Occasionally paint buildup inside the tubing can make installation snug.
A rubber mallet can help seat the bars without damaging the finish.

Installing the Wheels
The tires are directional.
When installing:
- The valve stem should face outward.
- The tread should point forward.
- Rear wheels fit onto the splined axle.
- Front wheels slide onto the spindle bearings.
- Install the castle nut and cotter pin correctly before driving.
Improper tire installation can dramatically reduce tire life.

Battery Installation
The battery strap is intentionally tight.
Many owners find it easiest to:
- Sit inside the passenger seat while installing it.
- Use a screwdriver for leverage if needed.
- Leave the gray battery cover off until the strap is installed.
We also recommend keeping the battery connected to a battery maintainer whenever the kart is stored.

Fuel Tank & Seats
Next you'll:
- Install the rear-mounted fuel tank.
- Connect the fuel line.
- Attach the tank vent.
- Install both seat backs.
Double-check every fuel line connection before adding gasoline.

Steering Wheel & Canopy
Before installing:
- Point the front wheels straight ahead.
- Install the steering wheel.
- Avoid overtightening the steering wheel bolts.
- Install the foam padding.
- Install the canopy top.
Be sure all seat belts are buckled when not in use so they don't drag on the ground during transport.

Blazer 200R Owners
The Blazer 200R includes additional body panels that require installation.
These include:
- Front bumper cover
- Hood
- Decorative trim pieces
Install these after the main chassis assembly is complete.

Before Starting the Engine
Before your first start:
✔ Check the engine oil level.
✔ Add oil if necessary.
✔ Add fresh gasoline.
✔ Confirm all bolts are tight.
Models with Reverse
Do not confuse the transmission gear oil fill with the engine oil fill.
The reverse gearbox requires only a very small amount of gear oil. Overfilling it can damage seals and cause leaks.
Pre-Ride Safety Checklist
Before every ride, take a few minutes to inspect your kart.
Engine
- Test the kill switch.
- Verify smooth throttle operation.
- Confirm the engine returns to idle.
Hardware
- Check steering hardware.
- Inspect suspension bolts.
- Verify wheel lug nuts are tight.
- Inspect roll cage hardware.
Seat Belts
- Pull firmly on each belt.
- Verify every buckle latches securely.
Steering
- Turn the steering wheel fully left and right.
- Check for excessive play.
- Verify proper alignment.
Routine Maintenance
Keeping up with maintenance will greatly extend the life of your kart.
We recommend:
- Check engine oil before every ride.
- First oil change after the first 5 hours.
- Change engine oil every 20 hours thereafter.
- Use quality synthetic 10W-30 engine oil.
- Check the air filter regularly.
- Lubricate the chain every other ride.
- Service the clutch approximately every 10 hours.
- Inspect brake pads and cables regularly.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I change the oil?
Perform the first oil change after 5 hours, then approximately every 20 hours of operation.
What oil should I use?
Synthetic 10W-30 is recommended.
Why does my kart shut off after 15 minutes?
Check the fuel tank vent line. A blocked vent can restrict fuel flow.
Why won't my kart move?
First check that the parking brake is fully released. Then inspect the shift cable adjustment if equipped.
Why is my battery always dead?
Keep the battery connected to a battery maintainer whenever the kart isn't being used.
