TrailMaster Mid Go-Kart Owner Hub

Identify your Mid, find compatible parts, assemble it, start it correctly and follow the right service guidance for the Mid XRS, Mid XRX, Mid XRX-R, Blazer 200 and Blazer 200R families.

This hub supports current 7 HP machines and discontinued 5.5 HP models, including very old Mid go-karts. Many replacement parts have been updated but remain compatible with earlier versions.

Which TrailMaster Mid Do You Own?

Model Seats Starting Reverse Visual Clue
Mid XRS Bench seat Pull start No Simple dash; no headlights or reverse shifter
Mid XRX Two bucket seats Electric with pull backup No Headlights and push-button controls
Mid XRX-R Two bucket seats Electric with pull backup Yes Floor shifter and visible reverse gearbox
Blazer 200 / 200R Two bucket seats Key switch with pull backup 200R: yes; some very old Blazer 200 models: no Hood, bumper, larger fenders and side-by-side bodywork

Older equipment varies: earlier Mid and Blazer machines may use seats with separate headrests, three-point restraints or different graphics. Some very old Blazer 200 models do not have reverse.

No Mid uses the Mini wireless remote. Wireless remote shutoff is a Mini-series feature and should not be used to identify a Mid.

Engine generation

Older 5.5 HP Mid or Current 7 HP Mid?

Earlier Mid Models

Earlier production used the 5.5 HP engine. GoKartMasters continues to stock many parts for these machines, including very old years.

2024 and Later

TrailMaster changed the Mid family to the 163cc, 7 HP engine during 2024. Many newer replacement parts have been updated while remaining compatible with earlier machines.

Do not order by appearance alone. Confirm the model, engine generation, reverse equipment and old-part details before ordering engine, electrical, belt, brake or cable components.

TrailMaster Mid and Blazer Parts

Choose the category that matches the kart. The Mid XRS remains fully supported even though it is discontinued, and updated parts often continue to fit older XRX and XRX-R machines.

Common owner needs include CVT belts, chains, brake parts, reverse cables, batteries, starter parts, key switches, start/stop buttons, seats, restraints, tires, carburetors, governor springs, clutches, driven pulleys and hardware.

Blazer note: the Blazer category contains its body-specific hood, bumper, fenders and trim. Most mechanical Blazer 200R components are shared with the Mid XRX-R platform.

Model-specific first start

How to Start a TrailMaster Mid

Mid XRS

  1. Engage the parking brake.
  2. Move the toggle switch to ON.
  3. Turn on both fuel valves.
  4. Move the choke toward the rear.
  5. Pull the starter rope until the engine starts.

Mid XRX / XRX-R

  1. Engage the parking brake and select neutral when equipped.
  2. Turn on both fuel valves.
  3. Pull and hold the dash choke out.
  4. Use the push-start button or pull backup.
  5. Warm for about one minute, then fully release the parking brake.

Blazer 200R

  1. Engage the parking brake and select neutral.
  2. Turn on both fuel valves.
  3. Pull and hold the dash choke out.
  4. Use the key switch or pull backup.
  5. Warm for about one minute, then fully release the parking brake.

Hold the dash choke out while starting. If released, it retracts into the dash. A cold engine may not start without full choke.

Release the parking brake completely. Move the lever fully forward before applying throttle. A partly engaged brake is the most common reason a Mid will not move and can damage the belt.

Mid Maintenance Schedule

First five hours

Ride normally. Check the chain every hour while it stretches, and inspect hardware after the first hour or two.

At five hours

Complete the required engine-oil change, chain service, brake and belt inspection, hardware check and needed adjustments.

Regular service

Approximately every 20 hours or once a year, whichever comes first.

  • Use synthetic 10W-30 in the engine and use the dipstick as the final level gauge.
  • Never add oil to the gearbox. It is factory lubricated; overfilling can blow out its gaskets.
  • Maintain approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch of chain movement.
  • Clean the torque converter with brake cleaner around 20 hours, or sooner if the belt slips or the kart begins lagging.
  • Apply only a light film of grease around the center collar or sleeve. Keep grease and cleaner off the belt and pulley faces.
  • A slow takeoff, higher-than-normal engine speed, rubber smell, belt debris or no movement can indicate belt trouble.
  • Starting each riding season with a fresh belt is optional but can prevent avoidable trouble.

Critical torque-converter warning: reinstall the sliding collar correctly. Fit its square shoulder into the flat edges of the clutch-housing opening. Incorrect assembly can cause catastrophic clutch failure and may allow the clutch to come apart violently.

Check simple causes first

Common Mid and Blazer Problems

Kart will not move

Move the parking-brake lever completely forward first. Then inspect belt condition, chain tension and reverse-cable adjustment.

Stops after about ten minutes

A restricted fuel-tank vent can create a vacuum. Inspect the vent routing and fuel-cap ventilation before replacing ignition parts.

Reverse will not engage

Shift-cable adjustment is common, especially on a newly delivered kart. Adjust the cable before assuming the gearbox has failed.

Slow takeoff or belt smell

Release the parking brake, stop riding and inspect the belt and torque converter. Continued riding can destroy the belt.

Cold engine will not start

Confirm fresh fuel, both fuel valves and full choke. Hold the dash choke out on electric-start models.

Electric start is weak

Check battery charge, terminals and connections before replacing the starter, solenoid, key switch or push buttons.

Mid Safety Essentials

  • Use a properly fitted DOT-approved full-face helmet and closed-toed shoes.
  • Fasten every rider's restraint and keep arms and legs inside the frame.
  • No Mid model has a wireless remote shutoff; maintain direct adult supervision.
  • Test the brakes, throttle return, steering and kill switch before riding.
  • Begin every session with a slow cautionary lap and inspect the riding area.

Common owner questions

TrailMaster Mid Owner FAQ

Can I still get parts for a discontinued Mid XRS?

Yes. GoKartMasters stocks many Mid XRS parts, including components for very old production years. Updated replacements often remain compatible.

Does a Mid go-kart have a wireless remote shutoff?

No. Wireless remote shutoff is a Mini-series feature. Mid XRS, XRX, XRX-R and Blazer 200R models do not use it.

Are Blazer 200R parts the same as Mid XRX-R parts?

Many mechanical parts are shared because the Blazer 200R uses the Mid XRX-R platform. Hood, bumper, fenders, seats and other body components can be Blazer-specific.

When is the first Mid service due?

Complete the required first service at five operating hours. Afterward, service the kart approximately every 20 hours or annually, whichever comes first.

How much slack should the Mid chain have?

Keep approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch of movement. Check it every hour during the first five hours while the new chain stretches.

Why does my Mid stop running after several minutes?

A fuel-tank vent line can create a vacuum and interrupt fuel flow. Inspect the vent system, fresh fuel, valves and choke before replacing electrical components.

When should I service the torque converter?

Around every 20 hours is a practical interval. Service it sooner if the kart takes off slowly, must rev unusually high, smells like burning rubber, drops belt debris or will not move.
