Do not plug in, mount or install a part until fitment has been confirmed. Similar TrailMaster models can use different harnesses, switches, connectors and charging components. Standard and Plus Minis differ; 150 and 200 models differ; carbureted and EFI systems differ. Diagnose before ordering because electrical parts cannot be returned.

What Kind of Electrical Part Do You Need?

Start with the symptom and the exact model. A machine that will not crank does not automatically need a starter, and a dead battery does not automatically prove that the battery is defective.

Starting CircuitKey switches, push-start buttons, starter solenoids, starter motors, brake safety switches, battery cables and fuses.
Ignition and ShutoffIgnition coils, CDI components where equipped, kill switches, remote shutoff parts and engine stop buttons.
Wiring HarnessesMain, auxiliary and engine harnesses. Match the exact model, fuel system, connector shape and production version.
Charging SystemRegulators, rectifiers, stator-related parts, battery cables and charging connections. Use a maintainer because short rides may not restore starting charge.

Use the model hub and parts breakdown to identify the machine before comparing plugs. The number printed on the engine is not the go-kart model.

Youth Platform

Mini XRS, XRX and XRX-R

The XRS is pull start and does not use the wireless remote. Electric-start XRX and XRX-R models use batteries, starters and remote shutoff systems. Standard and Plus versions can share some parts, but brakes, frame pieces and other components changed.

Mid XRS, XRX, XRX-R and Blazer 200R

Mid XRS is pull start. XRX and XRX-R use electric start with push controls. Blazer 200R uses the same Mid-size mechanical platform but has a keyed starting system and model-specific harness and body wiring.

Carbureted 150 and 200 machines use different engine and fuel-system wiring from EFI-equipped 200E models. Full-size karts use a brake-pedal safety switch in the starting circuit. Confirm XRS, XRX, carburetor or EFI before ordering.

Older carbureted and current EFI 300 machines exist. XRS and XRX rear systems differ, and the cooling system adds fan, temperature and warning circuits. Match the fuel system and exact XRS or XRX version.

Recoil-start MB200-2 and Hurricane 200X machines have simple ignition wiring. The Hurricane 200 Pro adds a battery and electric start. Storm 200 is a separate smaller platform and should not be matched by engine size alone.

Starting Circuit Basics

What Happens When You Press Start or Turn the Key?

Understanding the order of the circuit keeps owners from replacing expensive parts at random. The exact safety switches vary by model, but electric-start systems follow the same basic path.

1. Battery supplies power
The battery must provide sufficient voltage under starter load, not only a normal resting reading.
2. Fuse protects the circuit
A blown fuse can make the entire machine appear dead. Inspect it before buying switches or a starter.
3. Controls request start
The key or push button sends the starting command through any required safety circuit.
4. Solenoid closes
The starter solenoid uses the low-current command to connect battery power to the starter motor.
5. Starter turns engine
The starter motor cranks the engine while ignition and fuel systems create combustion.

Check the Fuse Before Taking the Kart Apart

On many Mini and Mid electric-start karts, a bundle of wires is collected behind the passenger seat with a hook-and-loop strap. Look for a red wire with a white cylindrical fuse case. Open the case to inspect the fuse; many include a spare fuse in the holder.

Replace with the correct ratingUse the specified fuse. A larger fuse can allow wiring damage instead of protecting the circuit.
Find the causeIf the replacement blows again, inspect for a short, crushed wire, reversed battery cable or damaged accessory connection.
Carry a spareA fuse is one of the easiest trail-side repairs. Keep the correct spare with the machine and your basic metric tools.

Protect the Electrical System With a Maintained Battery

Keep electric-start machines on an automatic 12V battery maintainer whenever they are parked. Avoid high-amperage automotive chargers and avoid jump-starting from a running vehicle. Low voltage can imitate failed switches, solenoids, starters and EFI components.

TrailMaster Electrical Parts FAQs

Why does my TrailMaster click but not crank?

Begin with battery condition under load, cable tightness, engine and frame grounds, solenoid connections and the starter cable. A click does not prove that the solenoid or starter has failed.

Why will a 150, 200 or 300 crank only when I press the brake?

The brake pedal operates a starter safety switch on these full-size platforms. If the machine will not crank, verify neutral, press the brake firmly and inspect brake-switch operation before replacing the starter.

Are TrailMaster wiring harnesses interchangeable?

No. Harnesses vary by model, starting controls, lights, fuel system and production version. Match the OEM number and every connector instead of ordering by appearance.

Can I bypass a safety switch?

GoKartMasters does not recommend bypassing factory safety switches. Diagnose the switch, adjustment, connector and wiring, then replace the correct part when needed.

Can I jump-start the kart from a car?

Avoid using a vehicle battery, especially with the vehicle running. Charge and maintain the small powersports battery with an appropriate automatic 12V charger or use a suitable portable jump pack cautiously.

Does GoKartMasters sell electrical parts to owners who purchased elsewhere?

Yes. GoKartMasters sells available TrailMaster OEM parts to all TrailMaster owners and can special-order unlisted components when TrailMaster has them available.
